My mom taught me to knit long, long ago when I was in grade school. I no longer remember how. Can you point me to any websites or books that would be easy for a beginner (who's also a busy mom...how in the world you have time for these projects amazes me!).

Hey Lisa!
Knitting is great.  I recommend getting a copy of Kids Knitting by Melanie Falick from the library--it has very clear and good instructions and some good first projects.  Its aimed at teaching kids to knit, but obviously anyone can use it.

Also, do you have a knitting store anywhere near you?  They will almost always offer help if you go in and ask and may also offer classes.

And, finally, you should join www.ravelry.com -- even though you arent knitting now-- its very inspirational and full of links to other webpages all about knitting.  If you do join, find me and make me a friend; Im Maya on Ravelry, so easy to remember.

I taught myself to knit by getting the book Vogue Knitting (a big reference book) from the library and following pictures and directions in there, but that is not as easy as following directions in a book designed to teach knitting!

Email me whenever you want with knitting questions.
