Not mine, thank goodness, but Abe's, poor baby. Actually, I think he's over the vomiting portion of this virus-tour as it's now been over 24 hours since his last up-chuck. He gave no indication that it was coming either; he ate normally all day and went to bed just like usual.
Chris went in the room to leave some water for Gus and noticed that it smelled weird in there but we didn't think too much about it. Later I went in to check on them and found Abe asleep but moaning with his head nestled in a little pile of puke. How's that for a beautiful image? It was horrible. We got him all cleaned up, put him back down and he immediately started up again.
I know that no one enjoys being around someone else puking but I really thought I was going to join him. He was remarkably cheerful considering that he had no idea what was going on, it was the middle of the night, we kept changing his clothes and wiping him down with wet rags, and he was confused about what to do so he kept trying to keep the vomit down instead of just letting it go. I called the nurse line and when I said "hi, my son is vomiting" she said "oh, him and half the kids in North Carolina" which even though it sounds kind of rude, was actually very reassuring because then you know most likely it's a virus and it will end at some point.
I went to the store to get pedialyte but since I went to Whole Foods I came back with coconut water. It has all kinds of good electrolytes and all natural; Abe even drank some. But in a head to head contest with a pedialyte popsicle? Sorry coco, the popsicle wins every time. I know he's not feeling completely himself yet because he still hasn't eaten more than some crackers and bread and about half a banana!
The best part of it all? I remarked to Gus that I couldn't believe he slept through all of it, the vomiting, the lights, the cleaning, and he said "what's vomiting?" Believe it or not, and knock on wood, but Gus has never vomited!
